Your Visit, Step by Step

STEP 1

Book or Inquire

Schedule online or call/text 609-354-5553 to book your appointment or ask a question before getting started.

STEP 2

Insurance Verification

Our team verifies your insurance benefits ahead of your visit. We accept Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, AmeriHealth, BCBS plans, WellCare, and additional commercial plans; self-pay is also available.

STEP 3

Complete Intake Forms & Registration

You'll complete your intake paperwork and registration securely before your appointment.

STEP 4

Attend Your HIPAA-Compliant Video Visit

Meet with Dr. Smithbey face-to-face over a secure video platform for your scheduled appointment — approximately 60 minutes for an initial visit, 30 minutes for follow-ups.

STEP 5

Receive Your Care Plan

Leave your visit with a personalized care plan, including any labs, referrals, prescriptions, and follow-up recommendations.

Our Platform

Visits are conducted on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — currently the built-in video platform within AthenaHealth, with a transition to SpareHealth underway. We do not use Zoom for patient visits.

  • A smart phone, tablet or computer

  • A stable internet connection

Visit Length:

  • Initial visit: approximately 60 minutes

  • Follow-up visits: approximately 30 minutes

Prescriptions

Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy when clinically appropriate.

Controlled Medications Policy

Dr. Smithbey does not prescribe opiates or medical marijuana for chronic pain, or benzodiazepines for chronic anxiety or insomnia, and does not take over prescribing of these medications from another physician. She is required by law to review prescription refill history through the Prescription Monitoring Program, even when she is not prescribing a controlled substance, and she communicates with your other prescribing physicians about your treatment plan when relevant.
